Susan Hex Jacket

Susan sporting her cool creation.

This is Susan’s really cool jacket. Once again this is a post to test the CSS of the new look at It’s pretty dang cool. At least I’d say it is. Check it out and love it.

Saturday we leave for Viet Nam and I can’t begin to describe how happy I am.

I think I’ll probably need to pull an all nighter tonight to get some of the work done that I need to before we leave, but it’ll be worth it once I get a few more billings out. I was hopping that I would have to do any work while I’m away, but I think it looks like I’ll be finishing up a web site while there. Post.

Secret Milk Door

1930s milk delivery door

1930s Milk Receptacle

One of the charms of owning an older home is the interesting details and history they can contain. This little “hatach” is next to our side door on the house, and I guess this is how you shopped for your dairy back in the 1930s. Some days I wish I could point the needles to milk or eggs and then magically have it appear.

Today is the first day of the Lunar New Year. All across Asia families are gathering, food is being prepared, business stops for several days and we in the western world don’t even blink—most of us anyways. I guess it’s fair since most of the Orient goes on with life when December 25TH rolls around.

We observe the Lunar New Year though. Last night we ate at a friends house down in Salt Lake and she cooked the most fabulous egg rolls, chicken salad (I love fish sauce which in itself deserves an entire post). The food was superb, and I should probably give a big thanks to Her (Mara) and family. They are great host. It’s kind of sad though as we went to church and no one knew it was even a holiday for over half the rest of the world.

The image above was my lunch/snack. Soy milk straight from the world famous Yong He soy milk shop (truly the worlds best). It puts our american grocery store brands to shame. Silk is no good, and the only one that comes close to the real thing is Kikoman soy milk.

On to more important matters. I’m upgrading my blog in the next few minutes and I don’t know what it’s going to do. It might crash the whole thing, but I think it will probably just screw things up so that my design will be all over the place. It will be worth it when the redesign launches though. Here we go.

It’s official we are going to get Gem. Right now it’s still a little uncertain what exact day we’re shipping out, but our Giving Receiving date is set for March 7TH, 2007, which happens to be Susan and my five year anniversary. Finally we’re going to bring her home.
With the news of travel also comes the the stress of pre-travel (flights, clothes, weight-loss, jobs, billings…). It’s dang exciting, but hard to stay focused. I’ve been planning a site to document our travels, but with the time I might just redesign the old blog and post our travels here.
Thank you for our your thoughts, prayers, and support.
